Interior, Bedroom, Baltimore, Maryland - Night
LINA and AVERY sit on the floor of a bedroom. LINA wraps a blanket around her head and self. They talk to one another. Avery jumps up with excitement.
AVERY
Hehe. You look like a worm! What if I was a worm?
LINA
A worm?
AVERY
Would we be friends?
LINA
Well it depends.
AVERY
On what?
LINA
A lot of things. Would you live as long as a human?
AVERY
What if I didn’t?
LINA
I wouldn’t want to be your friend just for you to die so soon.
AVERY
Yeah, that makes sense. It’d be hard just knowing that dying so long before you is inevitable.
LINA
Would you talk if you were a worm?
AVERY
Yeah, assume that I can.
LINA
Then I’d enjoy your company. If not, then I’m just sitting with a worm. Hmm... Would you still think human thoughts?
AVERY
I guess. Does it really matter?
LINA
Well yes, are you really you if you don't think like you?
AVERY
Maybe not. But it was me at one point.
LINA
Sure, but it wouldn’t be you anymore.
AVERY
That’s fair.
LINA
How about me? What if I was a worm?
AVERY
If you were a worm...I’d use you as fishing bait.
